Asana- “Posture, Seat”

Asanas help to balance the physical body through the regulation of glandular secretions, toning of the muscular and nervous systems, improves blood circulation, massages the internal organs and improves digestion.

These postures stimulate the subtle body, and purify the energetic channels, as well as strengthen the flow of prana through the body system. This conditioning of the physical structure creates balance in the tissues, and provides a more comfortable experience for sitting in meditation.

It is best to plan your Asana practice when the stomach is empty. Ideally, waiting for 3 hours after having eaten a meal is best. It is important to remember not to overexert oneself during your practice. Never force your body into postures or alignments that are painful. Over time, and with patience and dedication, your body will naturally move into the postures more deeply and with increased ease.
